LATKES FOR BREAKFAST Latkes in the morning With sour cream When I go to sleep at night That’s what I dream I don’t want one, two, three or four I’ll eat a thousand or maybe more Golden brown and so delicious With applesauce they are nutritious Potatoes and eggs, salt and pepper A little bit of onion, now mix it all together CHORUS I love latkes in my tummy Better than brisket, or apples and honey Some kids like gelt and birthday cake But when I hear that sizzle my knees start to shake CHORUS Last night I had the greatest dream I was surfing on a cloud of latkes When I looked up I saw latkes When I looked down I saw latkes When I looked all around, I saw latkes! I’d rather eat latkes than walk on the moon I’d rather eat latkes than clean my room CHORUS ©Ben Gundersheimer, Coil Records, Inc.. ASCAP 2015

If you want a hint try saying please Bevakasha, bevakasha Please, please Every single day it seems Is full of opportunities There's nothing to it It's as easy as can be Say bevakasha, just say please Bevakasha, bevakasha Please, Please

FLOOD’S GONNA COME God said to Noah, “I’ll tell you what to do You’ve got to build an ark, like a floating zoo You can’t take one, you gotta take two of every animal Every frog and skunk and kangaroo Cause the flood’s gonna come The water’s gonna rise The floods gonna come Better get/comeS inside Noah was six hundred years old But when God started talking, Noah did as he was told God was angry at the wickedness of every man Except for Noah, he alone would understand Cause the flood’s gonna come The water’s gonna rise The floods gonna come Better get/comeS inside Noah built the ark, while his neighbors laughed At the crazy guy building a boat for a couple giraffes But Noah kept working, all night and day With his family, and this is what he’s say Chorus All animals went into the Ark The wolves did howl, and the dogs did bark And the storm clouds came, filled up the sky And the rain started pouring, was Noah surprised? No he wasn’t surprised Chorus For forty days and forty nights The storm kept raging, no land in sight For forty days and forty nights The storm kept raging, no land in sight From valleys low to mountains high The ocean nearly touched the sky After many months at sea God sent a wind, a drying breeze And when the dove did not return They got out of the ark, lessons learned Chorus ©Ben Gundersheimer, Coil Records, Inc., ASCAP 2015

about

"Kid-friendly bilingual rock star" --The Washington Post

A Latin Grammy Winner, Mister G (Ben Gundersheimer) is one of the leading figures in the world of children's music. The Mitzvah Bus is Mister G's third Parents' Choice Gold-winning album of original music.

Parents' Choice Review:

"Mister G (Ben Gundersheimer), a leading figure in the world of children's music, delivers crafty and fun bilingual tunes, which are culturally broadening and often address the emotional lives of children. The Mitzvah Bus, his first collection of Jewish-themed original songs, is witty and very, very entertaining. Beginning with rollicking "Challah-lalala," he celebrates the plethora of tasty traditional foods, while the R&B flavored title song, explains the concept of service and being part of a caring community.

Hanukkah somehow condenses several thousand years of teaching into a very danceable song with an irresistible Ska beat; likewise, Hola Shalom (Hello friends, Peace friends) is a thoroughly infectious song about friendship and bridging cultural borders, sung in English, Spanish and Hebrew. Camp captures the summer joys of sleep-away camp, while Latkes for Breakfast uses funk, soul and rap to extol humorously the virtues of those tasty potato delicacies. In the same way, he has explained key Spanish phrases on previous albums, Bevakasha illuminates the Hebrew word for both "please" and "thank you." Food themes return (as they often do in real life) in the rock-steady Matzah on my Mind, while Shabbat Shalom uses a funky Dire Straits-like arrangement to elucidate the traditional Sabbath day of rest. Elsewhere, Purim Party Song is essentially an instructional storytelling song about the Jewish holiday of the title, while Tokhes uses Hebrew words to describe various body parts. Flood's Gonna Come is a jazzy, soulful retelling of the story of Noah and his ark; Naturaleza is a trilingual ode to nature. The album ends with the beautiful and lyrical lullaby Lilah Tov(good night).

As with his previous releases, a host of brilliant and professional musicians joins Mister G, as he plays highly rhythmic acoustic guitar, and sings in a clear and friendly voice. Full lyrics are available on his easy to navigate and kid-friendly website. Though the album is culturally and religiously themed, Gundersheimer's approach offers a wider understanding and an open sharing of ideas, concepts and traditions with children and adults. The fact that he accomplishes this with so much fun speaks volumes to the ingenuity of the very talented Mister G."
